The project will involve reviewing the DCSF’s financial management arrangements against the public sector best practice CIPFA Financial Management Model. A key aspect of the project will be to define the characteristics of the effective finance function, to assist the DCSF in the consideration of its future finance operating model. LG Futures’ role will include: undertaking a comprehensive electronic survey to seek stakeholder views; conducting interviews with senior officials; providing external verification/moderation of ‘scores’ arising from the review in comparison with other government departments; and reporting/presenting findings to senior management. This will be the second time that team members have assisted the DCSF in reviewing its financial management arrangements against best practice.
